Over 50 Lakh Vehicles Use Mumbai Trans Harbour Link Since January

Since its opening on January 13, the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), also known as Atal Setu, has seen over 50 lakh vehicles cross its expanse. This modern infrastructure has played a crucial role in alleviating traffic congestion and significantly reducing travel times between south Mumbai and key areas like Panvel, Pune, and Navi Mumbai. Commuters are now able to save at least an hour on their journeys, which also leads to lower fuel consumption. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has hailed the bridge as revolutionary, emphasizing its importance in addressing Mumbai's escalating traffic issues. The MTHL not only provides economic advantages but also serves as a vital solution for millions of residents. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority's Metropolitan Commissioner, Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, noted that the bridge exemplifies how effective planning and technology can lead to substantial social and economic improvements. The bridge has enhanced connectivity to the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport, facilitating quicker transfers between the two airports. This improvement is expected to benefit travelers significantly, especially as ongoing infrastructure projects, such as the Worli-Sewri elevated road and the elevated road connecting the Chirle interchange to the Mumbai-Pune expressway, near completion. With a vehicle count that includes a substantial number of cars, buses, and trucks, the MTHL is proving to be an essential component of Mumbai's transportation network.
