Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to embark on a significant three-day visit to Chhattisgarh, commencing Friday evening. Arriving in Raipur around 10:00 PM via a BSF or Air Force aircraft, Shah's trip is pivotal in addressing the ongoing Maoist insurgency that has plagued the region. His itinerary includes an inter-state coordination meeting with high-ranking security officials from Maoist-affected states, such as Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra, alongside top officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs. The primary objective of this high-profile meeting is to evaluate current strategies for combating Maoism and to devise effective measures aimed at eradicating the insurgency within a defined timeframe. Reports indicate that the discussions may encompass the possibility of coordinated operations across all affected states, as well as addressing border-related issues that complicate security efforts. This visit comes in the wake of commitments made by senior BJP leaders during the election period, promising the eradication of Maoism within three years. In addition to security discussions, Shah will inaugurate a new office for the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Raipur. Local authorities have ramped up security measures in anticipation of his visit, deploying mine-protected vehicles, drones, and snipers to ensure his safety. Chhattisgarh's Home Minister, Vijay Sharma, highlighted that Shah's visit will also focus on reviewing actions taken against Maoism and fostering an environment conducive to the surrender of insurgents, noting significant progress in the past six months.
