Story

This weekend marks the opening of the Three Counties Open Art Exhibition at Keele University, showcasing the talents of 98 selected artists from Staffordshire, Cheshire, and Shropshire. Out of 268 submissions, the exhibition features a diverse array of paintings, sculptures, and other artworks displayed at the School of Art building in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent. Emerging artist Peter Davis, who transitioned from a career in advertising to full-time artistry, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity provided by the exhibition. He emphasized the importance of such platforms in helping artists find their footing in the competitive art world. Charné Visser, a South African artist now residing in Stoke-on-Trent, echoed similar sentiments, advocating for the accessibility of art to all individuals, regardless of their background. She highlighted her experience of integrating into the local community and emphasized that art should transcend cultural and linguistic barriers. The exhibition is open to the public with free entry from Tuesday to Saturday, 11:00-16:00 BST. Visitors are encouraged to vote for their favorite pieces, with the winners announced on August 16. The audience choice award will be revealed at the exhibition's conclusion on August 24, further engaging the community in the celebration of local artistry.
