Budapest has been recognized as the best city in the world for "workcation" by the International Workplace Group (IWG), a flexible workspace operator. The rise of remote work, facilitated by cloud technology and high-quality internet access, has led to an increasing number of individuals blending work with travel. Mark Dixon, CEO of IWG, noted that 84% of hybrid workers are open to extending vacations for remote work, with 75% reporting that the ability to work from anywhere enhances their job satisfaction. The IWG report highlights essential factors influencing productivity, including accommodation, transport, and food, alongside broadband access and flexible workspaces. Budapest excelled in these areas, achieving impressive scores of 9.5/10 for accommodation and transport, 8.5/10 for sustainability, and 8/10 for broadband speed. This combination of attributes has positioned the Hungarian capital as a prime destination for remote workers. Barcelona, which held the top spot last year, remains a popular choice among hybrid workers, scoring well in transportation, climate, and accommodation categories. Meanwhile, cities in Asia, such as Beijing, Singapore, and Jakarta, have also made the top 10 list. Singapore, in particular, received high marks for its broadband quality and sustainability, further solidifying its status as a key travel hub in Southeast Asia. As remote work continues to gain traction, cities like Budapest and Singapore are emerging as attractive options for those seeking to balance work and leisure.
