HOMESTEAD, Pa. (KDKA) — A tragic double homicide has unfolded in Homestead, where a man and woman were discovered shot to death in a residence on West 15th Avenue on Tuesday afternoon. The Allegheny County Police Department reported that they received notifications of gunfire around 4 p.m., prompting a swift response from law enforcement. Upon arrival, first responders found the two victims deceased inside the home. The police are treating the incident as a double homicide and are actively searching for a "person of interest." However, details regarding this individual have not been disclosed to the public. The preliminary investigation revealed that the Homestead Police Department initially responded to the shots fired call and subsequently requested SWAT assistance due to the circumstances. According to Allegheny County Police Inspector Wesley McClellan, the front door of the residence was secured, necessitating the use of a bearcat armored vehicle to breach the entry. Officers utilized a drone for safety before discovering the victims inside. Authorities noted that the home had a history with law enforcement, including a recent domestic violence incident. As the investigation continues, police reported that five shots were heard at the scene. The identities of the victims have not yet been released.
