Story

On August 12, a team from the local Crime Branch apprehended Purushottam Sanjay Giri, also known as Gagga Giri, in Igatpuri taluka for allegedly instilling fear in the community with illegal firearms. The police reported that Giri was operating in Nandgaon Sado village, prompting authorities to register a case against him under the Arms Act. The operation highlights ongoing efforts to combat illegal weapon possession in the region. In a separate incident, a young man tragically took his own life, with the motive still under investigation. The Ambad police station has registered a case following the incident, which unfolded when the victim's uncle, Bhausaheb Jadhav, rushed him to the district hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The community is left in shock as details surrounding the suicide remain unclear. In a positive development for local forestry management, the Ministry of Forests has announced the promotion of 175 Forest Rangers to the position of Assistant Conservator of Forests, effective August 13. These promotions will see the newly appointed officers deployed in critical forest areas across Nashik, including Igatpuri, Trimbakeshwar, and Yeola. However, the promotions are temporary and contingent upon the resolution of ongoing court cases regarding seniority within the Forest Rangers cadre. Additionally, police took swift action after a minor was found carrying a knife on school grounds. Following a complaint from Sujata Valanj of the Damini team, authorities apprehended the boy and confiscated the weapon. A case has been registered at the Nashik Road Police Station, with Naik Gosavi leading the investigation.
