Story

A recent analysis by My Dolce Casa has revealed stark contrasts in real estate prices between New York City and various European regions. Using a benchmark price point, the study examined how much home one could purchase in five European countries for the equivalent cost of a New York condo. The findings highlight significant disparities in property sizes available in these regions compared to Manhattan. In Spain's Balearic Islands, the priciest area for real estate at approximately $450 per square foot, buyers can acquire about 1,600 square feet for the same price as a New York condo, offering over three times the space. Meanwhile, in France's Occitanie region, a budget of $750,000 translates to an impressive 3,700 square feet, which is more than seven times the size of a typical Manhattan apartment. Provence and the Southern Coast also provide substantial options, with an average of 2,100 square feet available at $357 per square foot. Portugal emerges as the most sought-after market, particularly in the Algarve region, where $750,000 can secure a 2,174-square-foot home. Central Portugal offers even more value, with over 5,000 square feet available at just $148 per square foot. Additionally, the Ionian Islands present an enticing option, where buyers can purchase a sprawling 5,859-square-foot property for the same price as a cramped New York condo, underscoring the vast differences in real estate value across these regions.
