Thousands of farmers are planning to protest in London on November 19 against the government's plans to extend inheritance tax. The Metropolitan Police has authorized the demonstration, allowing farmers to march in the capital. Organiser Clive Bailye noted that there has been significant interest, with 2,000 registrations within the first two hours of the event being announced. Bailye emphasized the peaceful nature of the protest, advising participants not to bring tractors or disrupt public order. Meanwhile, the National Farmers' Union (NFU) is hosting its own event concurrently, focused on lobbying Parliament regarding changes to agricultural property relief and business property relief. The NFU clarified that its gathering will not be a protest and expressed concern over potential disruption or safety issues. The union also stated its commitment to a controlled event, urging members to avoid large gatherings outside the designated areas due to legal concerns.
