Ukraine has strengthened its healthcare support by signing an agreement with Denmark during a visit by Ukraine's Health Minister, Viktor Liashko, to Copenhagen. This meeting took place against the backdrop of Ukraine's ongoing war, which has severely impacted its healthcare system. The agreement, signed alongside Denmark's Interior and Health Minister Sophie Löhde, aims to bolster the collaboration between the two nations in the field of healthcare. It particularly focuses on enhancing regulation and management of drugs and medical equipment in accordance with EU standards, laying the groundwork for Ukraine’s future European Union membership aspirations. The Danish government, recognizing the challenges faced by Ukraine, expressed its commitment to assist in healthcare at this critical time. The cooperation will also include initiatives to improve access to healthcare services for the Ukrainian population amidst the ongoing conflict. As an integral part of this strategic sector cooperation, Denmark will provide financial support to collaborative efforts between Danish and Ukrainian hospitals, with hopes of utilizing development aid to further support Ukraine's healthcare system. Notably, a previous partnership was formed between Rigshospitalet and Kyiv Regional Children’s Hospital last year, which indicates a continuing commitment from Denmark to aid Ukraine in its healthcare endeavors. During their meeting, Minister Löhde and Minister Liashko also planned visits to key healthcare facilities such as Rigshospitalet and Mary Elizabeth's Children’s Hospital to further solidify this collaboration.
