Cui Yongxi signs two-way contract with Brooklyn Nets

Cui Yongxi, a 21-year-old forward from Nanning, China, has officially signed a two-way contract with the Brooklyn Nets, as announced by the team on Friday. This contract allows him to alternate between the Nets and their G-League affiliate during the upcoming 2024-25 season. Cui's journey to the NBA included participation in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, where he played three games for the Portland team after going undrafted. Before joining the Nets, Cui spent two seasons with the Guangzhou Loong Lions in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). During his time there, he showcased his skills by averaging 14.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.7 steals over 99 games. His impressive performance last season earned him CBA Domestic First Team honors, as he led his team in points, rebounds, and steals. Cui's international experience includes representing China in the previous year's Basketball World Cup, highlighting his growing prominence in the sport. He also attended the NBA Global Academy in Canberra, Australia, which provided him with valuable exposure to the NBA's style of play and training. With this signing, Cui becomes the third player of Chinese heritage to join the Brooklyn Nets, following in the footsteps of notable players Jeremy Lin and Yi Jianlian. This move not only marks a significant milestone in Cui's career but also strengthens the Nets' roster as they prepare for the upcoming season.
