Taylor Dees races camels in UAE, inspiring women in sports

Taylor Dees, originally from Texas, has made a remarkable transition to camel racing in the UAE, clinching victory in the first all-women race at the Crown Prince Camel Festival in August 2023, just a year after her first ride. This achievement highlights her rapid adaptation and skill, as she competes in a sport traditionally dominated by men. Dees trains rigorously, focusing on endurance to ensure both she and her camel are in peak condition for races held in various locations, including Dubai and Saudi Arabia. The Arabian Desert Camel Riding Center (ADCRC), co-founded by Linda Krockenberger, has played a pivotal role in promoting female participation in camel racing. Krockenberger faced gender-based challenges in her pursuit of riding opportunities, which motivated her to establish the ADCRC in 2021. The center has since launched the UAE's first all-women camel racing team, attracting women like Dees who are eager to break barriers in this male-dominated sport.
