In a remarkable display of athletic prowess, world record holder Yaroslava Mahuchikh secured victory at the Diamond League meeting in Switzerland, clearing a height of 1.99 meters. This achievement comes just three weeks after she claimed gold at the Paris Games, where Australia celebrated its first-ever dual medallists in the same field event. Paris 2024 silver medallist, Australia’s Eleanor Olyslagers, finished third with a jump of 1.92 meters, edging out Germany's Christina Honsel on countback. Reflecting on her performance, Olyslagers expressed gratitude for the positive atmosphere surrounding her, stating, “After the Olympics, it’s easy for motivation to wear, but I’m so grateful to be here.” She noted a significant improvement from her previous experience at the venue, where fatigue hindered her performance. The world indoor champion is optimistic about her future competitions, particularly in Lausanne, which she described as one of her favorite locations. In the men’s pole vault, Australian Kurtis Marschall also made headlines, finishing in joint third place after clearing 5.82 meters. Marschall aimed for a season-best of 5.92 meters but fell short, while Sweden’s Armand Duplantis set a new meet record with a jump of 6.15 meters, continuing his impressive winning streak. The night also featured standout performances from other athletes, including Olympic 800m champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi, who clocked an impressive 1:41.11, tying a historic mark set by Wilson Kipketer in 1997. Meanwhile, Australian runners Stewie McSweyn and Olli Hoare finished 11th and 12th in their respective events, unable to make a significant impact.
