The Blue Dog Coalition’s political action committee, Blue Dog PAC, has officially endorsed Whitney Fox, the Democratic challenger to incumbent Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) in Florida’s 13th Congressional District. Rep. Mike Thompson (D-CA), chairman of the PAC, praised Fox as the ideal candidate to represent Pinellas County, emphasizing her commitment to addressing local issues such as lowering home insurance costs and protecting healthcare access. Thompson expressed confidence in Fox’s ability to deliver tangible results for the community rather than seeking online notoriety. Despite the backing from Blue Dog PAC, Fox faces a challenging race in a district that leans Republican. Current projections from Decision Desk HQ indicate that Luna has an 89% chance of winning reelection. However, Fox is positioned as a strong contender, boasting significant financial support that exceeds Luna’s by more than a two-to-one margin. Fox has articulated her intention to work collaboratively across party lines to bring about meaningful change, focusing on critical issues like economic growth and safeguarding freedoms. In response, Luna remains skeptical about the competition she faces, recalling her previous campaign where she was outspent significantly. She asserts that she has fulfilled her campaign promises and questions the seriousness of her challengers. Luna has raised approximately $850,000 this election cycle but currently holds only about $119,000 in cash on hand, raising concerns about her financial standing as the race progresses.
