EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A tragic multi-vehicle accident on the Black Horse Pike resulted in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to seven others on Friday evening. The incident occurred shortly after 8 p.m. on the 8000 block of the highway, involving several cars, according to local police from Pleasantville and Egg Harbor Township. The crash was initiated when a 2017 Nissan Sentra, traveling westbound, crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a 2018 Kia Forte. The impact caused the Kia to be pushed backward, leading to a rear-end collision with a 2020 Nissan Sentra. The force of the crash sent the Kia into a nearby marsh, while the 2020 Nissan veered off the road. Authorities confirmed that the driver of the Kia, a 21-year-old man from Atlantic City, and a passenger in the 2017 Nissan, a 22-year-old woman from Pleasantville, were pronounced dead at the scene. Among the seven individuals transported to hospitals, a juvenile male passenger from the Nissan is in critical condition, alongside a female juvenile who was airlifted to Cooper University Hospital. Several others sustained serious and minor injuries. In the aftermath, local police commended bystanders who assisted in rescuing victims from the burning vehicle. Chief Frederick Spano expressed gratitude for their quick and selfless actions. The roadway has since been cleared and reopened to traffic.
