At the D23 Expo on Friday, Disney revealed that Oscar-winning actor Ke Huy Quan has joined the cast of the highly anticipated sequel, "Zootopia 2." Quan will portray a snake named Gary, joining returning stars Ginnifer Goodwin as Judy Hopps and Jason Bateman as Nick Wilde. The film's writer and director, Jared Bush, emphasized the expansive world of "Zootopia," stating that the sequel will explore more of this vibrant animal planet, including the introduction of reptiles. Bush described Quan's character, Gary, as a "very venomous pit viper," hinting at the challenges that Judy and Nick will face in the sequel. Goodwin shared her enthusiasm for returning to the role after eight years, noting that Judy will be engaged in "some undercover work" alongside Nick, who became her partner in the first film. The actress expressed her desire to continue this journey, saying, "If I can just do this forever, I'll be real good." The official synopsis reveals that Judy and Nick will investigate a mysterious reptile that disrupts the mammal metropolis of Zootopia. Their partnership will be tested as they go undercover in unexpected areas of the city. The original "Zootopia," released in 2016, won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and grossed over $1 billion globally. "Zootopia 2" is set to hit theaters on November 26, 2025, following the release of the spinoff miniseries "Zootopia+" on Disney+ in 2022.
