Story

John Horgan, the former Premier of British Columbia, passed away at the age of 65 following a prolonged struggle with cancer. His health issues began in 2008 when he was diagnosed with bladder cancer, which he overcame with surgery and treatment. After serving as the premier from 2017 to 2022, Horgan officially stepped down from his position citing health reasons related to throat cancer. In November 2023, shortly after leaving provincial politics, he was appointed Canada’s ambassador to Germany by the federal government. However, in June 2024, he announced a leave of absence due to newly diagnosed thyroid cancer, which ultimately led to his passing just months later. His contributions to politics and leadership will be remembered by many.
