Hogan Calls on Alsobrooks to Withdraw Support for Israel Aid Cuts

This appeal was made in a letter coinciding with his attendance at a memorial service for former Senator Joe Lieberman, where Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed Congress. Hogan emphasized the need for leaders to stand with the Jewish community in Maryland and the U.S., framing the issue as a moral one rather than a partisan debate. In his letter, Hogan referenced Alsobrooks' previous comments regarding U.S. military support for Israel, specifically her agreement with President Biden that the U.S. might need to withhold offensive weaponry if Netanyahu does not alter his course. Hogan criticized this stance as "dangerous" and indicative of weakness, arguing that making aid conditional could increase the risk of U.S. involvement in conflict. Hogan also took the opportunity to criticize Senator Chris Van Hollen for skipping Netanyahu's address, contrasting him with retiring Senator Ben Cardin, who attended. He accused Van Hollen of prioritizing political considerations over support for Israel, while praising Cardin's legacy as a pro-Israel advocate. Despite Hogan's efforts, Alsobrooks remains the frontrunner in the Democratic primary in Maryland, a state known for its strong Democratic leanings.
