Travis Manion Foundation honors 10,000 fallen heroes this Memorial Day weekend

In the United States, the Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) is set to expand its annual initiative known as The Honor Project to honor 10,000 fallen military heroes during Memorial Day weekend. This program, which began in 2021, sees volunteers visiting national cemeteries to pay respects to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. From May 23, 2025, volunteers will visit sixty cemeteries across nearly thirty states, placing commemorative tokens at the graves of fallen service members on behalf of their families. The initiative aligns with TMF's mission to preserve the legacies of these heroes and promote reflection on their sacrifices. The Honor Project mobilizes volunteers, who will personally visit the interment locations of America’s fallen heroes, helping families and friends who may be unable to be present and honoring the memory of those who served. TMF originally commenced this project at Arlington National Cemetery, where 4,000 heroes were honored during the inaugural year. As the program grew, a partnership with the National Cemetery Association has allowed for substantial expansion to reach more military cemeteries nationwide. Ryan Manion, CEO of TMF and the sister of Capt. Travis Manion—who lost his life in Iraq—expressed her astonishment at the initiative's growth over five years. She emphasized that the project reflects the community's will to honor fallen service members' sacrifices and shared the organization's mission to instill the importance of character and service in future generations. The program is a significant effort to make sure that each hero’s name and story are remembered, reinforcing the values that underpin the nation.
