Chelsea in Talks for João Félix After Failed Deal

Highlights
  • Chelsea negotiating with Atlético Madrid for João Félix transfer.
  • Previous deal for striker Samu Omorodion fell through.
  • Potential transfer deal in progress.
Story

Chelsea Football Club is reportedly in discussions with Atlético Madrid regarding a permanent transfer for striker João Félix. This comes after Chelsea's attempt to sign Samu Omorodion fell through, with Atlético valuing the player at approximately €50 million (£43 million). Chelsea had previously agreed on a £34.5 million fee for Omorodion, who was part of Spain's gold medal-winning Olympic squad, but personal terms could not be finalized. Félix, who spent six months on loan at Chelsea in 2023, is now seen as a viable option for the club following the recent acquisition of Pedro Neto. His agent, Jorge Mendes, has been involved in talks to facilitate a potential return for the 24-year-old forward, who had a mixed loan spell, scoring four goals in 20 appearances. Despite his challenges, Félix is reportedly open to rejoining Chelsea. In addition to Félix, Chelsea is considering a loan move for Napoli's Victor Osimhen. The club may also see departures, with forwards Raheem Sterling and Noni Madueke among those potentially leaving if Félix is signed. Meanwhile, Aston Villa is eyeing Trevoh Chalobah, who has been restricted from using Chelsea's first-team facilities, with a transfer fee of around £25 million anticipated. Crystal Palace is also interested in Chalobah but may pursue other targets if Marc Guéhi transfers to Newcastle. The club is contemplating a third bid exceeding £50 million for Guéhi, who has attracted significant interest from various clubs.
