A remarkable discovery was made in a garage in Mayfair, London, where a collection of prints by the renowned surrealist Salvador Dali was found after lying forgotten for half a century. Alongside these prints, five lithographs by French artist Theo Tobiasse were also uncovered. The seller, who had originally purchased the artworks with the intention of framing them, never got around to it, leading to their long-term storage in the garage. The prints were rediscovered during a clear out as the seller prepares to retire and move abroad. Antiques expert Chris Kirkham, who assessed the items, described the find as 'amazing' and 'surreal,' highlighting the freshness of the colors due to their prolonged dormancy. Each print is signed by Dali, making them particularly valuable to collectors. The auction house Hansons Richmond has set a guide price of £300 to £500 for each Dali lithograph and £100 to £300 for the Tobiasse works. The auction is scheduled for 30 September, providing a unique opportunity for art enthusiasts to acquire pieces that have been hidden away for decades. This discovery not only sheds light on the hidden treasures that can be found in everyday places but also emphasizes the enduring appeal of Dali's work, which continues to captivate collectors and art lovers alike.
