PM Modi inaugurates massive development projects in Bihar

On April 24, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Bihar to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for numerous development projects with a combined worth of over Rs 13,480 crore. This visit coincided with the celebration of National Panchayati Raj Day, a significant occasion aimed at promoting local governance in rural areas. In Madhubani district, PM Modi addressed a large public gathering where he emphasized the importance of strengthening villages for the overall development of India. Various initiatives related to railways, LPG distribution, infrastructure improvement, and rural empowerment were highlighted during this event. During the event, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for multiple infrastructure projects including an LPG bottling plant in Gopalganj which is valued at approximately Rs 340 crore. This will enhance the efficiency of bulk LPG transportation within the state. Furthermore, he inaugurated several initiatives in the power sector as part of the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme, which aimed at boosting the region's power infrastructure with investments exceeding Rs 5,030 crore. The Prime Minister also announced projects worth over Rs 1,170 crore aimed at improving overall power distribution in Bihar, significantly benefiting the local populace. Furthermore, enhancing rail connectivity was a key focus of PM Modi's initiatives. He flagged off several new train services including the Amrit Bharat Express connecting Saharsa and Mumbai, and the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail linking Jaynagar and Patna. This initiative is expected to significantly enhance regional connectivity and foster socio-economic development across Bihar. The introduction of new rail lines and the dedication of the Khagaria-Alauli rail line further illustrate the government's commitment to improving transport facilities for rural communities in the state. Additionally, PM Modi distributed substantial financial assistance aimed at supporting rural livelihoods. Under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission, over Rs 930 crore was allocated to more than two lakh self-help groups in Bihar. This support is integral to empowering communities and promoting self-reliance among local populations. The Prime Minister also highlighted critical achievements that include the provision of tap water connections to over 12 crore rural families and housing benefits to municipalities aimed at enhancing living standards within their jurisdictions. Overall, this event signified a crucial step towards bolstering local governance structures and uplifting rural Bihar.
