In Center City Philadelphia, an 18-year-old Temple University student, Tyler Sabapathy, fell from a light pole while celebrating the Philadelphia Eagles' victory in the NFC championship game. Tyler was a first-year student at Temple's College of Public Health, having moved from Toronto, Canada, where he was an accomplished gymnast with over 120 medals. His major was exercise science and sport science, and he was a dedicated member of the university's club gymnastics team. The university expressed deep sorrow over his sudden loss and described him as having had a bright future ahead of him, emphasizing that he would be missed by numerous friends, classmates, and faculty. Following the tragedy, there was a call for reflection amongst the Philadelphia police regarding their response to such large-scale celebrations and safety measures that should be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
