Microsoft warns users of severe issues following mandatory update
- Microsoft users faced multiple issues after the August 2025 security update.
- An emergency update was released to address a critical reset failure risk.
- Users are advised to read about known issues and reconsider the update installation.
In August 2025, Microsoft users encountered significant problems after installing the latest mandatory security update for Windows. The updates led to major issues, such as Windows PCs potentially failing during resets. Microsoft responded quickly by releasing an emergency out-of-band update, recommending impacted users to bypass the main update KB5063875 for enhanced stability. Furthermore, another critical problem emerged involving disappearing Solid State Drives (SSDs) when writing large files, prompting Microsoft to advise users against such file transfers until a solution is identified. Most recently, streaming and transferring audio and video between PCs became unreliable, resulting in severe stuttering and lag, particularly for those using the Network Device Interface (NDI) protocol. Microsoft confirmed that these issues surfaced after the installation of the August update and ongoing investigations were announced to rectify these problems. Despite the issues, Microsoft has been encouraging users, especially the 700 million Windows 10 users, to transition to Windows 11, which may have complicated the current update process as many are hesitant due to the recent troubles.
