Story

In the United States, Indra has secured a project to implement its state-of-the-art traffic management and tolling technology on the SR 400 Express Lanes in Atlanta. Chosen by the Georgia Department of Transportation and the Georgia State Road and Tollway Authority, Indra will collaborate with the SR 400 Peach Partners consortium to enhance traffic efficiency and safety. The project involves over 16 miles of highway and aims to incorporate intelligent traffic systems, advanced communication, and an open road tolling solution to reduce congestion and emissions while facilitating better travel experiences. With this initiative, Indra aims to address the challenges posed by increased traffic congestion in one of the nation’s fastest-growing cities over the next 55 years. The technological deployment will occur in the cloud and leverage predictive analytics, improved vehicle classification, and maintenance efficiencies. This approach not only focuses on managing traffic better but also emphasizes sustainability by enabling a reduction in travel-related emissions. The implementation will facilitate flexible mobility solutions, thus making express lanes optional for travelers, ultimately leading to enhanced safety during transit. Indra has previously been involved in mobility projects throughout the United States, such as the ORT system on the I-66 express lanes in Virginia, which earned the IBTTA Toll Excellence Award. Their continued innovative contributions in the transportation sector underscore a commitment to modernizing traffic management and enhancing infrastructure in major urban areas. As one of the technological forefronts, this project represents a significant step towards a more efficient and sustainable mobility landscape in Georgia, where ongoing development is critical to accommodate the rapid population growth. The deployment of this traffic management technology marks a critical shift in how urban mobility is approached in Atlanta. Incorporating intelligent systems not only aligns with the technological advancements that have characterized the modern landscape but also illustrates a broader trend towards sustainable development in transport infrastructure achievements.
