Story

An 18-year-old Iraqi national, who recently pledged allegiance to the Islamic State (ISIS), has become the third suspect arrested in connection with a thwarted attack on Taylor Swift's concerts in Austria. Austrian Interior Minister Gerhard Karner revealed that this individual is linked to a 19-year-old main suspect, an Austrian of North Macedonian descent, who was found with bomb-making materials and other dangerous items at his residence. The main suspect reportedly confessed to planning a mass attack outside the concert venue, aiming to inflict maximum casualties using knives or homemade explosives. The latest arrest occurred in Vienna on Thursday night, with authorities confirming that the Iraqi suspect had taken an oath of allegiance to ISIS just days prior. A 17-year-old has also been detained, while a 15-year-old has been questioned but not formally charged. Investigators are now focusing on the networks associated with the suspects, analyzing both physical and electronic evidence to uncover further details about the plot. The concerts, scheduled for this week at Ernst Happel Stadium, were expected to draw large crowds, with up to 65,000 attendees inside and an additional 30,000 outside. The planned attack was set for either Thursday or Friday, prompting the cancellation of the shows on Wednesday as news of the threat emerged. Despite the disruption in Austria, Swift's upcoming concerts at London’s Wembley Stadium are still set to proceed as planned. As of now, Swift has not publicly addressed the foiled plot.
