Toyota has announced a recall of 50,000 vehicles due to safety concerns related to the braking system, specifically affecting the Corolla Cross Hybrid models manufactured between June 2022 and September 2024. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) identified that under certain conditions, drivers may experience a hard brake pedal when turning, which could lead to an increased stopping distance and a higher risk of accidents. To address this issue, Toyota will provide free updates to the skid control ECU software at local dealerships. Notifications to vehicle owners are expected by late November 2024. This recall follows a previous one involving 43,395 Sequoia Hybrids, which were recalled due to potential problems with their tow hitches. The tow hitch cover's design may not securely attach to the rear bumper, raising safety concerns when towing. These recalls highlight ongoing safety issues within the brand and the importance of addressing them promptly to ensure driver safety.
