Story

ATLANTA (AP) — Delta Air Lines is currently investigating a security incident that occurred earlier this month at Washington Dulles International Airport, where a man allegedly followed a family through the terminal and boarded their flight without a ticket. The airline confirmed that it has established protocols for gate agents and flight crews to ensure that only ticketed passengers are allowed on board. The situation unfolded when Lauren Benton noticed a man trailing her family, including her husband and two young children, throughout the airport, even entering a women’s restroom. Upon boarding their flight, the man reportedly sat in their row, prompting Benton’s husband to confront him. A flight attendant intervened and requested to see the man’s boarding pass, which he could not provide. Delta stated that the individual was subsequently removed from the aircraft. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) later clarified that the man possessed a valid ID and a boarding pass for a later flight, which allowed him to pass through security undetected. In light of this incident, Delta is conducting an internal review and has been in communication with airport authorities to address the security lapse and prevent similar occurrences in the future. The airline emphasized its commitment to passenger safety and the importance of adhering to established security measures.
