The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is actively seeking information regarding a hit-and-run incident that occurred on Sunday afternoon on state Highway 4 in Brentwood. The crash, which took place around 1 p.m., involved two vehicles, including a burgundy Toyota Tacoma carrying a driver and four adult female passengers. The incident unfolded when a dark pickup truck, towing a trailer, allegedly changed lanes unsafely, colliding with the Tacoma and causing it to overturn multiple times. Following the collision, the driver of the dark pickup truck fled the scene heading westbound on Highway 4. Fortunately, the driver of the Tacoma emerged uninjured; however, the four passengers sustained injuries, with one requiring airlift to a hospital and the others transported by ambulance. CHP officials reported that all occupants of the Tacoma were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, while the seat belt status of the dark pickup truck driver remains unknown. The CHP has not ruled out the possibility of driving under the influence (DUI) being a factor in the incident. Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash or possesses relevant footage to come forward. Individuals with information are encouraged to contact the CHP's Contra Costa office in Martinez at (925) 646-4980 or to email details to 320Investigations@chp.ca.gov for further assistance from the investigating officer.
