CHICAGO (CBS) — A tragic hit-and-run incident early Sunday morning on the West Side of Chicago resulted in the deaths of two women and left another critically injured. The crash occurred shortly after 4:30 a.m. in the 200 block of North Kedzie Avenue, where a white Dodge SUV, reportedly speeding, ran a stop sign and collided with a green Buick sedan. The impact of the collision was devastating, claiming the life of a 47-year-old woman at the scene. A 34-year-old woman was transported to Stroger Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Additionally, a 32-year-old woman was also taken to Stroger in critical condition, highlighting the severity of the crash. Following the incident, the driver of the SUV fled the scene, continuing northbound on Kedzie Avenue. As of Sunday, law enforcement had not made any arrests, and the search for the driver remains ongoing. The Chicago Police Department's Major Accidents Investigation Unit is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
