Chelsea Football Club has finalized the signing of Pedro Neto from Wolverhampton Wanderers for a reported fee of €60 million (£51.4 million; $65.5 million), with an additional €3 million in potential bonuses. The announcement follows a report by The Athletic, confirming the deal for the 24-year-old winger. Neto expressed his gratitude upon joining the club, attending Chelsea's final pre-season match against Inter Milan at Stamford Bridge. Neto's recent performance has been hampered by injuries, limiting him to just 20 league appearances last season, where he scored two goals and provided nine assists. Notably, he assisted in a goal during Wolves' victory over Chelsea in February. His injury history is concerning, as he has not played more than 24 matches in any season since 2020-21, missing a total of 102 games over the past four seasons. In addition to Neto, Chelsea has also reached an agreement for a €40 million deal to sign Samu Omorodion from Atletico Madrid. Neto, who has earned 10 caps for Portugal and scored once, returned to fitness in time to participate in three matches during the recent European Championship, where Portugal was eliminated in the quarter-finals. Chelsea's decision to sign Neto comes after their pursuit of Euro 2024 star Nico Williams, who preferred to remain in Spain. Neto's versatility across the attacking line is expected to enhance Chelsea's tactical options under manager Maresca as they prepare to kick off their Premier League season against reigning champions Manchester City on August 18.
