Shivraj Singh Chouhan condemns Bengal incident at public meeting

During a public meeting in Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan condemned the recent rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Hospital in West Bengal. He expressed that the incident has horrified the entire nation, with even the President and Supreme Court voicing their concerns. Chouhan criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee for her perceived indifference, stating that the police failed to act promptly, allowing the situation to escalate as a crowd attempted to destroy evidence at the hospital. Chouhan labeled the incident as a severe injustice and crime, asserting that such occurrences will not persist in West Bengal and warned that Banerjee would face consequences for her inaction. He also took the opportunity to criticize Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, claiming that the JMM party has deteriorated the state and is now a family-run entity. In addition to addressing the Bengal incident, Chouhan reassured farmers about the availability of urea and DAP fertilizers, stating that the government would intervene if DAP prices exceeded Rs 1350. He emphasized the Centre's commitment to providing a Rs 2100 subsidy on urea, aiming to ensure that farmers have access to essential agricultural inputs. Chouhan's remarks reflect a broader political strategy as he seeks to strengthen the BJP's position in both West Bengal and Jharkhand, highlighting issues of governance and public safety while promoting agricultural support measures.
