Vera Bradley Foundation raises $1.6 million for breast cancer research in Fort Wayne

On September 15, 2024, the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer announced a significant donation of $1,601,830 to the Vera Bradley Foundation Center for Breast Cancer Research at the Indiana University School of Medicine. This contribution brings the Foundation's total funding for breast cancer research to an impressive $41.7 million. The announcement was made during the Foundation Celebration, part of the 30th annual Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer Classic held in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The multi-day event attracted numerous participants, sponsors, and volunteers, featuring activities such as women's golf and pickleball tournaments. The funds raised have enabled the IU School of Medicine to develop advanced resources and talent, positioning it as a leader in targeted breast cancer therapies. Researchers at the center are engaged in groundbreaking work across various fields, including genetics and immunotherapies. The Vera Bradley Foundation has gained recognition as a global not-for-profit organization, supporting some of the most talented breast cancer researchers worldwide. The collaborative efforts at the IU Cancer Center, which is one of only 57 institutions designated as a comprehensive cancer center by the National Cancer Institute, focus on improving therapies for challenging breast cancer types. Looking ahead, the Foundation plans to launch its next fundraising campaign, Turn the Town Pink, during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. This initiative aims to further raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research, continuing the Foundation's mission to find a cure and enhance the lives of those affected by the disease.
