2,513 Apply for MHADA Lottery Apartments

The Mumbai Housing and Area Development Board (MHADA) has reported a significant response to its recent housing lottery, receiving 2,513 applications for 2,030 available apartments across various locations, including Goregaon, Wadala, Powai, Vikhroli, and Malad. The online application process commenced on August 9, 2024, and has attracted considerable interest from prospective buyers, who have also submitted earnest money deposits (EMD). According to MHADA sources, the EMD collected reflects the diverse income categories of applicants, with amounts ranging from Rs 25,590 for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) to Rs 1.5 lakh for the Higher Income Group (HIG). The EMD includes a non-refundable form fee of Rs 590, while the remaining amount is refundable. The deadline for online applications is set for September 4, 2024, with the provisional list of applications to be published shortly thereafter. Applicants will have the opportunity to raise objections regarding the provisional list until September 9, with the final list to be released by September 11. The computerized draw for the lottery is scheduled for September 13, 2024, with the venue to be announced later. Interested individuals can access the registration and payment process through MHADA's official website. Eligibility for the lottery is determined by annual family income limits, with specific thresholds for each category, allowing applicants from lower income groups to apply for higher categories. This initiative aims to provide affordable housing options to a broad spectrum of Mumbai's population.
