Poland blames Russia for orchestrating shopping mall fire

In May 2024, a massive fire devastated the Marywilska shopping center in Warsaw, destroying approximately 1,400 small businesses, many of which were operated by members of the Vietnamese community. Following a year-long investigation, Polish authorities announced that the fire was a result of arson, directly attributed to Russian intelligence services. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed that the arson was coordinated by an individual residing in Russia, with some involved already in custody and efforts ongoing to locate others who participated in the act. The Polish government has since closed the Russian consulate in Krakow as a response to the findings, citing concerns over Moscow's involvement in destabilizing actions within Poland.
