The Harrington Discovery Institute, in collaboration with Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, has launched a call for proposals for the 2025 Harrington-MSTP Scholar Award. This initiative, announced on September 26, 2024, aims to empower MD/PhD candidates to translate their innovative scientific discoveries into viable medical treatments. The award offers up to $100,000 in milestone-driven funding over two years, along with tailored support from the Institute's Therapeutics Development Center, which includes access to project managers and drug development advisors. Since its inception in 2012, the Harrington Discovery Institute has played a pivotal role in supporting the development of 188 drugs across the U.S., U.K., and Canada. The Harrington-MSTP Scholar Award is part of a broader effort to nurture inventive physician-scientists who are dedicated to improving healthcare outcomes. The program specifically targets students in the CWRU MSTP program, encouraging applications from those who will begin the funded award by their fourth year of graduate training. The application process requires interested candidates to submit a brief Letter of Intent by November 5, 2024. Up to two award recipients will be selected and announced in the spring of 2025, marking a significant opportunity for emerging researchers to advance their work. This initiative not only highlights the importance of funding in medical research but also underscores the commitment to fostering innovation in the field of medicine, ultimately aiming to elevate the standard of care for patients.
