The Detroit Police Department is actively seeking assistance from the public in identifying a suspect involved in a recent arson incident that resulted in the destruction of four vehicles and damage to two others. The incident occurred on August 15 at approximately 1:45 p.m. in a post office parking lot located on Harper Avenue, near Morang Avenue, on the city's east side. Surveillance footage released by authorities shows a hooded male breaking the window of a white 2018 Chevy Traverse before pouring an accelerant inside. The suspect ignited the fuel, causing an explosion that propelled him backward into another vehicle. Following the explosion, the suspect fell to the ground but quickly fled the scene. The Detroit Police Department described the suspect as a heavyset male, last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt with a white shirt underneath and blue jeans. The incident resulted in significant damage, with six vehicles affected and four completely burned. In an effort to gather information, authorities are offering a $500 reward for any tips leading to the identification and arrest of the suspect.
