Ringwood Road Upgrades in Poole
- Ringwood Road in Poole is set to receive significant improvements.
- The plans include the addition of a new bus lane and cycle track.
- These changes aim to enhance transportation and accessibility in the area.
Starting September 2, significant roadworks will commence on Ringwood Road in Poole, Dorset, a vital route for thousands of daily commuters. The project, part of a £17.5 million initiative funded by the government’s Transforming Cities Fund, aims to enhance road safety and alleviate congestion. Key improvements include the installation of bus lanes, a dedicated cycle track, and 2.8 miles (4.5 km) of resurfacing between Hunt Road and Mountbatten Roundabout. Andy Hadley, the BCP Council's lead on climate response, emphasized the transformative nature of the project, stating that it will provide sustainable travel options and improve connectivity to essential destinations. The first phase will also introduce a two-way cycle track and 1.1 miles (1.8 km) of new pavement, with the entire project expected to be completed by 2026. While the council acknowledges that the roadworks will "inevitably cause disruption," they are committed to minimizing the impact on local traffic and residents. The authority has planned public drop-in events to inform the community about the project, scheduled for August 14 and September 18 at The Newtown venue in Poole. Residents and commuters are encouraged to stay informed about the developments and potential disruptions as the project progresses, which aims to modernize the infrastructure and enhance travel experiences in the region.
