LONDON (AP) — Chelsea Football Club has officially signed 19-year-old defender Aaron Anselmino from Boca Juniors for an undisclosed fee, the club announced on Thursday. In a strategic move, Chelsea has loaned Anselmino back to Boca Juniors for the entirety of the 2024-25 season. The young talent, who made his professional debut in June 2023, has accumulated 10 senior appearances for the Argentine side. Anselmino's signing marks Chelsea's eighth acquisition during the current transfer window, reflecting the club's commitment to bolstering its squad with promising young players. The defender has signed a seven-year contract with the Premier League club, indicating their long-term investment in his potential development. In other transfer news, Newcastle United has secured the services of Denmark Under-21 striker William Osula from Sheffield United, also for an undisclosed fee. The 21-year-old forward had a challenging season with Sheffield United, making 21 appearances in the Premier League as the team faced relegation. Prior to that, Osula spent a season on loan at Derby County in the EFL Championship. Osula's career began in the youth ranks of FC Copenhagen, his hometown club, and his move to Newcastle signifies the club's intent to strengthen its attacking options as they prepare for the upcoming season.
