PLYMOUTH, MA - Matthew Paluzzi, 26, has been charged with the murder of his father, Anthony Paluzzi, 73, after allegedly stabbing him in the neck during a violent incident at their home on Cedar Road. Prosecutors reported that Paluzzi told police he "snapped" during the altercation. Following the incident early Thursday morning, he reportedly stole his mother’s car and fled the scene. The victim's body was discovered later by his mother, prompting her to call 911. Authorities apprehended Matthew Paluzzi more than three hours later in Hanover, approximately 20 miles from Plymouth. He was subsequently charged with murder and ordered to be held without bail after pleading not guilty in Plymouth District Court. The court proceedings revealed that Paluzzi has a history of mental health issues and has been on probation, having undergone several treatment programs. During the court session, Paluzzi's attorneys requested funding for a forensic psychologist to assess his mental state. However, Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz emphasized that mental health issues do not absolve an individual of criminal responsibility. The prosecution is currently awaiting the results of an autopsy, which may provide further insights into the case. Neighbors expressed shock at the incident, noting that they had previously heard Paluzzi making threats against his parents but never anticipated such a tragic outcome. Paluzzi is scheduled to return to court on October 2.
