At Digital Learning Week, UNESCO's flagship event on digital learning, Huawei announced the implementation of the Technology-enabled Open Schools for All Phase II project in Brazil, Egypt, and Thailand, set to run from 2024 to 2027. This initiative aims to enhance the digital transformation of education in these countries through innovative open school models that integrate technology and human capabilities, fostering inclusive and quality learning environments. The first phase of the project, which took place from 2020 to 2024 in Egypt, Ethiopia, and Ghana, provided valuable insights for the new phase, showcasing the importance of technology as a catalyst for educational improvement. In Egypt, the focus will be on expanding teacher training in ICT skills, building on the success of the previous phase, which established a New Center for Distance Learning benefiting 950,000 educators. The Brazilian project emphasizes inclusion and green-oriented learning, aligning with the Connected Schools Strategy, which includes the construction of five smart schools and two digital training centers for teachers. Meanwhile, Thailand's initiative aims to promote well-being in education, with plans to build ten smart schools and enhance smart classroom usage, supported by ICT training for educators. The initiative is part of Huawei's TECH4ALL program, which seeks to promote digital inclusion and sustainability. By leveraging technology tailored to national priorities, the project aims to ensure equitable access to lifelong learning opportunities. The collaboration between Huawei and UNESCO highlights the commitment to transforming education through innovative solutions and partnerships. Overall, the Open School initiative represents a significant step towards modernizing education in these countries, addressing the challenges of digital learning, and empowering educators and students alike to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
