In a harrowing incident in a Bangkok suburb, over two dozen dogs were rescued after surviving for days by consuming the body of their deceased owner, Attapol Charoenpithak, 62. Authorities discovered Charoenpithak's body on Saturday, following concerns raised by a neighbor who noticed his car had not moved for several days. The neighbor, Sompong Phasuksri, reported that Charoenpithak typically drove to the local market daily, prompting suspicion when he failed to respond to doorbell rings despite the lights being on. Upon entering the home, police found a distressing scene, with the house cluttered with garbage and dog excrement. They quickly contacted the Voice Foundation, an animal rescue group, to assist in the recovery of the dogs. The rescue team managed to save 28 dogs, although two had tragically perished due to starvation. Initial reports suggested around 15 dogs were found near the owner's body, but the team later discovered more scattered throughout the house. The Voice Foundation confirmed that the dogs had resorted to eating the left leg of their owner to survive. Supawadee Srithassanakarn, who led the rescue, noted that Charoenpithak had previously agreed to surrender the dogs to the charity amid complaints about their living conditions. The rescued dogs are now receiving medical attention and will be spayed before efforts are made to find them new homes.
