Huawei introduces two smartwatches with remarkable health tracking

In an event held in Berlin, Germany, Huawei has introduced two new smartwatches aimed at enhancing health tracking capabilities for consumers. The first model, Huawei Watch 5, is designed as a premium smartwatch mimicking the elegance of classic timepieces and comes with advanced health sensor technology. The watch is available in two sizes, 42mm and 46mm, featuring a curved sapphire crystal glass screen that sits seamlessly within a stainless steel frame. The 46mm variant also offers an option for a titanium frame, enhancing the overall luxury appeal of the device. The Huawei Watch 5 is particularly noteworthy for its innovative touch sensor, termed the 'Huawei X-Tap,' located on the right side of the watch frame. This sensor incorporates an ECG electrode and a PPG sensor, allowing users to perform real-time blood-oxygen level readings. Users can interact with the sensor through taps, swipes, and physical presses. However, the watch includes a disclaimer noting that its health metrics are for reference purposes only and should not replace professional medical advice, a common caution also found in rival offerings like the Apple Watch. The second model, the Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro, focuses on battery longevity while offering a multitude of health tracking features. Despite the absence of the 'X-Tap' sensor, this smartwatch comes equipped with a rectangular 1.82-inch AMOLED display. Huawei successfully slimmed the case down to just 9.3mm while adding additional sensors, including one to measure air pressure for high-altitude situations. However, its design reportedly resembles that of the Apple Watch Ultra, which may deter some consumers who prefer unique aesthetics in their gadgets. Both smartwatches showcase impressive battery life; the Huawei Watch 5 lasts up to five days under normal usage conditions, while the Fit 4 Pro boasts an astonishing ten days. These devices have been integrated with various fitness tracking options including a specialized 'Golf Mode' that uses algorithms to monitor swings and track performance effectively. Pricing for these premium devices positions the Watch 5 at approximately £399.99 (around $500), with the Fit 4 Pro priced at £249.99 (roughly $330). While the cost may be perceived as high, Huawei has historically targeted the premium luxury technology market, and initial sales trends suggest that consumers are aligning with this strategy.
