Singapore Airlines (SIA), the national carrier of Singapore, has announced a major investment of $45 million for upgrading its premium lounges located at Changi Airport's Terminal 2. The renovations are set to be executed in phases, starting today with construction of the new First Class SilverKris Lounge. This initial phase is expected to reach completion in the fourth quarter of 2025. Following this, the Business Class SilverKris Lounge will undergo renovation in late 2025, while updates to the KrisFlyer Gold Lounge will commence in the first half of 2026. The entirety of the renovation work is slated for completion around mid-2027, allowing the lounges to remain operational throughout the process to accommodate passengers. To ensure continued service during renovations, the existing lounges will remain available to eligible passengers until new facilities are completed. These facilities will include enhanced features such as higher ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows for the new First Class Lounge, along with a self-service buffet offering a variety of dishes. SIA's Business Class Lounge will see a significant expansion of 30% while introducing new amenities, including restrooms and shower suites. Since their establishment in 1990, these lounges underwent their last significant renovation in 2011, following a minor refresh in 2024. This latest upgrade aims to bring the lounges up to par with SIA's newer lounges in Terminal 3 and enhance the overall experience for all premium passengers. Additionally, SIA has recently contracted French hospitality company Accor to supply passenger relations officers for its SilverKris lounges in Singapore, further augmenting the airline's focus on improving premium passenger services. As a critical hub for South-east Asian travel, Terminal 2 serves not only SIA but also various Star Alliance carriers, thus highlighting the importance of preserving and improving lounge services.
