An 18-year-old woman from Colorado, Annabelle Margaret Floren-Wyant, was found dead in the home of 26-year-old Jorge Meza-Alarcon Jr. near El Paso, Texas, following a series of unsettling text messages she sent to a friend. Before her death, Floren-Wyant had requested her friend to check on her periodically, expressing concerns about Meza-Alarcon, whom she met on Snapchat. She was discovered with blood coming from her ear shortly before 3 a.m. on August 1. According to police reports, Floren-Wyant had gone to Meza-Alarcon's residence to collect money. Her friend, unable to reach her around 2:25 a.m., called 911 after receiving no response. Upon arrival, authorities found Floren-Wyant in Meza-Alarcon's bedroom, while he was located three miles away with facial injuries, having called 911 to report an assault. Meza-Alarcon claimed that the meeting was arranged for a money exchange for sex, stating that Floren-Wyant had threatened him during the encounter. He alleged that after being struck in the head with a cellphone, he felt threatened and placed her in a chokehold, which he demonstrated to police. When questioned about Floren-Wyant's condition, he admitted he had not checked her pulse before leaving the scene. Meza-Alarcon has since been arrested and charged with first-degree murder as the investigation continues into the circumstances surrounding Floren-Wyant's tragic death.
