Staff face hours cut as demand plummets in Channel Islands

In the Channel Islands, staff at Hand Picked Hotels were informed about temporary cuts to their paychecks following a significant drop in demand. The hotel group, which employs around 1,000 staff across 21 locations in the UK, communicated these changes via an email disclosed by BBC. Employees expressed frustration over the situation, particularly after enduring long hours during the holiday period. It was mentioned by a Jersey employee that senior management, including the CEO and owner, discussed financial losses and the necessity to reduce expenses. Consequently, some staff members threatened to walk out in response to the pay cuts.
