Auburn, Washington - This past weekend, T-Rex enthusiasts gathered at Emerald Downs for the highly anticipated T-Rex World Championship races, where over 200 participants donned dinosaur costumes to compete in a 100-yard dash. The event attracted a lively crowd of nearly 6,000 spectators, celebrating the whimsical spirit of the competition. Emerald Downs organized separate races for various age groups, including categories for children, adults over 50, and both male and female competitors. The event's Facebook page highlighted the inclusive nature of the races, inviting participants of all ages to join in the fun. The day's standout performers included Cheyn Tam-Switzer, who claimed victory in the men's race, and Paislie Thompson, who triumphed in the women's category. In the 50-plus division, a competitor known only as "Bob" took home the top prize. Young racers also shone, with "Royce" winning the under-11 race and Josias Colin emerging victorious in the 12-16 age group. Participants had the opportunity to register for the races online and could even purchase costumes at the Emerald Downs gift shop. The T-Rex World Championship races kicked off at 1:30 PM on Saturday, August 17, marking a day of fun and friendly competition for dinosaur fans of all ages.
