Sheffield Crown Court has sentenced several individuals involved in violent confrontations at the Holiday Inn Express in Manvers on August 4. Among those sentenced were brothers Luke and Paul Sissons, who were prominently featured in footage of the chaos, which included clashes with riot police and an attack on a police dog van. Judge Jeremy Richardson KC highlighted the brothers' aggressive actions, stating they were at the forefront of the mob that attacked police officers, creating a frightening scene for law enforcement. Paul Sissons, 38, was sentenced to two years in prison, despite primarily filming the events. However, he was part of a group that threw missiles at police during the unrest. The court also heard about his inflammatory remarks after being bitten by a police dog, questioning why he was not taken to the hospital. Other individuals involved in the violence faced varying sentences, including a man who hurled racist abuse at a shopkeeper and was jailed for six months. In Hull, Jackie Miller, 57, received an eight-month sentence for a racially aggravated public order offense, while Michael Campbell, 56, was sentenced to 20 months for using a bicycle to fend off a police dog. Jarrod Farrah, 32, was also sentenced to two years for lunging at police during the riots. The court's proceedings revealed the disturbing nature of the events, with Judge Thackray describing the footage as “depressing and horrifying.”
