IndyCar veteran Conor Daly has been announced as the new driver for the No. 78 car at Juncos Hollinger Racing, starting with this weekend's race at World Wide Technology Raceway near St. Louis. Daly takes over from Agustin Canapino, who departed the team following a series of controversies on social media. Daly expressed enthusiasm about reuniting with team co-owner Ricardo Juncos, highlighting their previous successes in the Road to Indy series. Canapino's exit from Juncos Hollinger Racing came after a tumultuous period, including disputes over alleged online threats made by his fans towards rival driver Théo Pourchaire. This situation escalated to the point where Arrow McLaren Racing severed its technical and marketing ties with Juncos Hollinger. Former teammate Callum Ilott also noted the toxic environment created by Canapino's fan base, which contributed to his own departure from the team. Daly's performance this season has seen him drive for three different teams. He notably advanced from 29th to 10th place in the Indianapolis 500 with Dreyer & Reinbold Racing and filled in for the injured Jack Harvey at Dale Coyne Racing in July. As he joins Juncos Hollinger, Daly will collaborate with teammate Romain Grosjean for the remainder of the season. Ricardo Juncos expressed excitement about Daly's return, reminiscing about their past achievements together, and emphasizing the positive impact of having him back in the team.
