Story

Rapper Travis Scott has filed a motion to dismiss a trespassing charge stemming from his arrest at a Miami marina two months ago. The 33-year-old artist, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster, was taken into custody on June 20 after an altercation on a yacht. His attorney, Bradford Cohen, argued that there were no visible "No Trespassing" signs at the marina, as reported by TMZ. The motion comes after a separate charge of disorderly intoxication was dropped earlier this month. Scott's arrest occurred after police ordered him to leave the premises, but he returned to collect personal belongings left on the yacht. According to court records, he was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center around 4:35 a.m. for the two misdemeanors. The incident reportedly involved a verbal disturbance among individuals on the yacht, with police noting that there was no physical altercation. Cohen emphasized that the situation was mischaracterized, stating that attempts were made to calm Scott down, but he repeatedly disregarded their requests. After initially leaving the scene, Scott returned shortly after, escalating the situation further. When questioned about alcohol consumption, Scott acknowledged having been drinking, remarking, "it's Miami." Sources indicate that there are no plans for additional charges, and no injuries were reported among those involved, including Scott's security team. Scott is currently scheduled to stand trial for the misdemeanor trespassing charge on September 10.
