Story

In Florida, a young bull terrier named Trooper was found abandoned and tied to a fence as Hurricane Milton approached in October 2023. The storm, classified as a Category 3 hurricane, resulted in severe weather conditions, posing a significant risk to animals left unsecured. Trooper was discovered by a Florida Highway Patrol trooper, Orlando Morales, who rescued him from the floodwaters. Following his rescue, Trooper was taken in by the Leon County Humane Society, where an overwhelming number of applicants expressed their desire to adopt him. In November 2023, Frank and Carla Spina, a couple from Parkland, Florida, who have extensive experience with bull terriers, applied to adopt Trooper after reading about his plight. Although there were initial concerns about Trooper's past trauma and his reactions to men, the Spinas were able to prove their compatibility through a series of meetings. Their connection with Trooper was immediate and heartwarming, providing him with a new, loving home away from the trauma he had endured. This adoption story highlights both the resilience of animals in difficult situations and the importance of caring pet owners ready to provide a second chance. Frank and Carla Spina have since embraced Trooper into their family, expressing their commitment to giving him the best life possible.
